Maltese water polo prospect Sam Engerer has taken an important step in his career after officially joining Italian club Rari Nantes Nuoto Salerno ahead of the upcoming season.

The 18-year-old attacker will feature for the club’s first team in the Serie A2 championship while also strengthening its Under-18 squad, giving him valuable opportunities to develop at both senior and youth levels.

Engerer arrives in Italy following an impressive campaign with Malta’s national team at the recent European Under-20 Water Polo Championships. His performances have helped pave the way for this exciting new chapter, as he prepares to test himself in the competitive Italian water polo scene.

The move will also see Engerer reunite with a familiar face in head coach Christian Presciutti, who previously coached the young Maltese player during his time at Sliema Academy.

Speaking about his new challenge, Engerer expressed his pride at joining the Salerno-based club and his determination to contribute to the team’s progress.
