Maltese Teams Maintain Strong Momentum at European Pool Championships in Ayia Napa

Maltese teams continued to impress at the European Pool Championships currently underway in Ayia Napa, Cyprus, delivering a series of strong results across multiple categories.

The men’s national team secured two crucial victories, edging Ireland 8–7 in a tightly contested match before producing a commanding 11–4 win over Belgium. With only two group fixtures remaining, Malta now sits in a favourable position to secure a place in the semi‑finals.

In the Over‑50s division, Malta registered four wins from six matches, keeping their qualification hopes very much alive. The Under‑23 squad also maintained excellent form, winning eight of their eleven encounters so far, placing them among the leading contenders in their category.

Meanwhile, the Under‑18 team enjoyed a dominant day on the tables, earning back‑to‑back 7–2 victories over Scotland A and Scotland B. Their consistent performances further underline the depth of emerging Maltese talent.

With positive results across all divisions, Malta’s contingent remains firmly in the hunt as the championships move into their decisive stages.
