MALTESE REFEREES SELECTED FOR UEFA CORE PROGRAMME

Referee Ezekiel Barbara and Assistant Referee Andrea Pavia Schiavone have been selected by the Malta Football Association (MFA) Referees Committee to participate in the 63rd edition of the UEFA CORE (Centre of Refereeing Excellence) Programme.

The officials are currently attending the introductory course at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. This first stage marks the beginning of a prestigious development pathway aimed at nurturing Europe’s most promising match officials.

The UEFA CORE Programme provides intensive training for referees from across the continent, combining technical instruction, physical preparation, match analysis, and practical on-field experience. It is widely regarded as a key stepping stone for officials aspiring to reach the highest levels of European football.

The MFA expressed its support and best wishes to Barbara and Pavia Schiavone, highlighting their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to representing Maltese refereeing on the international stage.

Participation in the UEFA CORE Programme is expected to enhance their skills and experience, ensuring they continue to contribute to the growth and standard of football officiating in Malta while gaining exposure to elite European refereeing practices.
