Maltese Judokas Show Promise at Aleksinac Open with Bronze Medal Finish

Two Maltese judokas, Kyle Camilleri and Kieran Delia, delivered an encouraging performance at the Aleksinac Judo Open, showcasing the growing potential within Malta’s emerging judo scene. Both athletes battled their way into the bronze‑medal contests, demonstrating determination, discipline and steady technical development.

Camilleri secured a well‑deserved bronze medal, showing maturity and tactical sharpness throughout his bouts. Delia, competing in his first international competition after only 11 months in the sport, narrowly missed out on a podium finish but impressed with his resilience and rapid progress. His performance signals strong promise for future events.

The Maltese duo were coached by Joseph Castillo, who trains athletes in both Malta and Serbia, providing valuable exposure and structured guidance. Their results underline the importance of continued investment in proper infrastructure to support Malta’s next generation of judokas.
