Maltese kickboxer Matteo Vella delivered an impressive first-round knockout victory during The Arena Combat Sports Promotion: Under Siege event held in Birgu.

Representing Team Jalen Kickboxing Club in Tarxien and coached by Mark Manicolo, the 22-year-old fighter stopped his Greek opponent just 17 seconds into the opening round, marking one of the fastest knockouts in the promotion’s history.

Vella’s dominant performance was part of a strong showing by Team Jalen, who recorded four additional victories on the night.

Known for his explosive style and decisive finishes, Vella already holds a WKA title belt and previously made headlines with a knockout win just 1 minute and 40 seconds into a bout.

His rapid progression has positioned him as a standout figure in Malta’s growing combat sports scene.

The Under Siege event featured a full card of competitive bouts, but it was Vella’s quick and clinical finish that drew the most attention. With a consistent record of early stoppages, he continues to gain recognition both locally and beyond.

Vella’s performances reflect a promising future in the sport and highlight the development of Maltese athletes on the international kickboxing stage. His achievements are contributing to the rising profile of combat sports in Malta.
