Maltese Duo Impress in Nyon at the 2026 FISU World University Triathlon Championships

Malta enjoyed a proud moment in Nyon, Switzerland, as Kai Azzopardi and Ryan Muscat represented the country at the 2026 FISU World University Triathlon Championships. Competing against a deep and highly competitive international field, both athletes delivered committed and disciplined performances that reflected the growing strength of Maltese university sport.

Azzopardi produced a solid race, finishing 26th overall in 57:03, showing consistency across all three disciplines. Muscat also gave his all, placing 61st with a time of 1:05:39, completing the demanding course with determination and resilience. Their participation marked another important step in Malta’s return to the world university triathlon stage, following the nation’s renewed involvement in recent years.

MUSA extended its congratulations to both athletes for their effort and commitment, while also thanking partners Visit Malta, Edukazzjoni, the University of Malta, and Hudson Sport for their continued support in helping Maltese student‑athletes compete abroad.
