Maltese athletes Jon Debono and Gabriel Farrugia have reached an impressive milestone after securing a podium finish in their age group at the international Hyrox Bologna challenge.

The duo clocked a remarkable time of 56:22, finishing in 3rd place out of a highly competitive field of 966 teams.

Their achievement becomes even more noteworthy considering the demanding circumstances leading up to the event. The night before their podium performance, the pair competed in the Pro Doubles Men category, recording a strong time of 1:00:19 against some of the Elite 15 athletes. Competing at such a high level proved both a humbling and motivating experience.

Taking to Instagram, Jon Debono expressed his satisfaction with the result, especially given that his preparation had been impacted by an ongoing hamstring injury. Despite the setback, he pushed through the challenge with determination, highlighting his resilience and commitment. He also noted that it is now time to focus on recovery and allow his body to heal.
