MALTESE CLUBS DISCOVER OPPONENTS FOR EUROPEAN AQUATICS CHALLENGER CUP ROUND II

The draw for the European Aquatics Challenger Cup Qualification Round II has been finalized, and Maltese water polo teams now know their opponents as they prepare for a crucial stage in the competition.

In the men’s tournament, both Sliema ASC and San Ġiljan ASC advanced after finishing first and second in their initial group. Sliema, group winners, will travel to Lithuania for Group A, where they face hosts EVK Zaibas and Finnish side Cetus Espoo. Meanwhile, San Ġiljan head to Slovenia for Group B, taking on AVK Branik Maribor and Bosnia’s VK Banja Luka. Matches will be played between February 13 and 15, with the top two from each group progressing to the Final Eight in March.

In the women’s competition, San Ġiljan ASC compete in Group A against ZVK Crvena Zvezda, Clube Fluvial Portuense, SSV Esslingen, and Hapoel Emek Hayarden. Sirens ASC are in Group B, facing Goztepe Sport Klub, VK Jardan Split, Dalton Koleji SP, London Otter, and Nevsehir Belediye Sport Klub.

With challenging fixtures ahead, Maltese teams will need grit and determination to keep their European dreams alive.
