Maltese Badminton Trio Celebrate Podium Success at the Verona Grand Prix

The Maltese contingent produced an excellent showing at the 4th Grand Prix Verona in San Bonifacio, returning home with podium finishes and strong performances across multiple events.

Elenia Haber led the way with a superb silver medal in Women’s Singles, showcasing consistency and composure throughout the tournament. She also teamed up with Lauren Azzopardi to reach the quarter‑finals in Women’s Doubles.

Diego Scalvini delivered one of the weekend’s most complete performances, securing three bronze medals in Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles with G. Caracausi, and Mixed Doubles alongside A. Pellizzari.

Azzopardi impressed in both her Singles and Doubles campaigns, pushing the 3/4 seeds Anna Sofie De March and Samar Dhahri to a tight 19‑17 second set in a near‑miss for the semi‑finals.

A brilliant weekend for Maltese badminton and a proud moment for the Academy’s rising stars.
