Martina Montebello Caruana was among Malta’s standout performers, finding the net twice to put her side in a strong position. Amy Catania also got her name on the scoresheet, contributing Malta’s third goal in an exciting six-goal contest.

Despite the disappointment of conceding late, Malta demonstrated fighting spirit, attacking intent and determination throughout the encounter.

The result highlighted the potential within Malta’s emerging generation of female footballers, who continue to gain valuable international experience against European opposition.

Although victory narrowly escaped their grasp, the Maltese players can take several positives from their performance as they look ahead to their upcoming international commitments.
