Malta U21 Ready for Germany Challenge

Malta’s Under-21 national team faces a major challenge on Wednesday evening when Germany visit the Centenary Stadium for their final home qualifier in the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign.

Kick-off is at 18:00, with coach Davide Mazzotta urging his players to put Saturday’s defeat to Northern Ireland behind them while building on the positive aspects of their performance, particularly in the first half.

Mazzotta stressed that unity will be crucial against a Germany side featuring players accustomed to competing at the highest level. He called on his squad to show courage and maintain a balanced approach throughout what he expects to be a high-intensity encounter.

The Malta coach warned his players against approaching the match with a defeatist mentality, describing the challenge as a “David against Goliath” situation but insisting they must not feel beaten before kick-off.

Mazzotta also highlighted the importance of player development, pointing to the recent involvement of several U21 players with the senior national team.

Malta face Latvia in their final match of the international window on 6 October.
