Malta to Host World Aquatics Water Polo World Cup Division II

The Aquatic Sports Association of Malta has announced that it has been entrusted with hosting the World Aquatics Men’s and Women’s World Cup Division II, a landmark achievement for Maltese sport and a significant moment for the country’s water polo community.

The tournaments will take place across two premier venues: the Cottonera Indoor Pool and the Tal‑Qroqq Sports Complex. The Men’s Championship will be held between 7 and 13 April 2026, followed by the Women’s Championship from 21 to 26 April 2026. In total, Malta will welcome 26 nations for the men’s competition and 18 nations for the women’s event, representing six continents and bringing together some of the sport’s most promising international talent.

ASA President Karl Izzo expressed pride and gratitude at Malta’s selection as host nation, extending a warm welcome to all delegates, referees, athletes, coaches and team officials. He emphasised that their collective contribution will be essential in ensuring the success of this global event while further elevating the profile of water polo in Malta.
