Malta Set for Historic Debut at Paintball World Championship

Malta will make history this September as it competes for the first time at the UPBF Paintball World Championship in Dreux, France a landmark moment for a sport that has grown from grassroots passion into a fully recognised national programme. Since the championship’s inception in 2013, 52 nations have taken part. In 2026, Malta proudly becomes one of them, joining fellow debutants Colombia, Denmark and Kuwait on the world stage.

The journey to this point has been defined by persistence and belief. Malta’s paintball community travelled, trained and built its structures from the ground up, culminating in the establishment of Malta Paintball as an officially recognised organisation. This foundation has enabled the national team to compete internationally and represent the country with professionalism and pride.

The team’s participation is supported by VisitMalta, whose backing has been instrumental in elevating the sport and ensuring Malta’s presence among the world’s elite. Regardless of the results in Dreux, the significance of Malta’s first appearance cannot be overstated: the Maltese flag will fly at the Paintball World Championship for the very first time.
