Malta set for historic Champions League water polo week

With just days remaining, the National Pool Complex in Msida is fully prepared to host the most prestigious week in European club water polo. The venue, operated by SportMalta, has been upgraded into a world‑class arena as Malta becomes the first nation to stage the Men’s and Women’s Champions League Final Fours simultaneously a milestone that underscores the island’s growing reputation for elite sports organisation.
Eight powerhouse clubs are set to arrive, including men’s contenders Pro Recco, FTC Telekom, Olympiacos, and Zodiac CNAB, alongside women’s finalists CN Sant Andreu, Olympiacos SFP, Assolim CN Mataró, and FTC Telekom. Athletes, staff, officials, and media from across Europe will descend on Malta for four days of top‑level competition.
Before the continental action begins, the complex tonight hosts the SportMalta Cup, starting with the first‑ever Women’s edition at 19:00 as Sirens face Sliema a landmark moment for the women’s game. At 21:00, San Giljan meet Neptunes in the men’s clash, renewing one of Malta’s fiercest rivalries.
A dedicated Fan Zone opens Wednesday, offering games, activations, and merchandise, while the surrounding area becomes car‑free, with parking available at the University of Malta.
