Malta’s Young Athletes Finish Third in Croatia Cross-Country Event

Malta’s Youth Athletics Selection delivered an impressive performance at the European School Sport Federation Cross-Country event held in Poreč, Croatia, with the boys’ team securing an excellent third-place finish overall.
The competition marked a significant milestone for Maltese youth athletics, as it was the first time that both boys and girls represented Malta in this prestigious European school sporting event.
The Maltese contingent consisted of six promising young athletes: Isaac, Andre, Daniel, Miguel, Sophie and Jade, who competed against strong international opposition in a highly competitive environment.
The boys’ team produced an outstanding collective performance, finishing third overall based on the athletes’ individual placings. Isaac Luca Scicluna led the Maltese standings, delivering a particularly encouraging performance.
Attention now turns to the combined cross-country team competition, scheduled for the following day, when Malta’s top two boys will join the two female athletes in another challenging event.
The achievement represents an encouraging result for Malta’s developing athletics programme and highlights the potential of the country’s emerging young talent.
Competing at this level provides invaluable international experience, allowing young athletes to test themselves against European opposition while continuing to develop their skills.
The Maltese contingent deserves recognition for its commitment, determination and excellent representation of the country on the international stage.
