The Centenary Stadium was the stage for an unforgettable clash as Malta’s U19 side came within seconds of a historic win against Czechia. In front of an enthusiastic home crowd, Malta twice took the lead, first through Dejan Farrugia and then it was Jake Borg that unleashed a spectacular strike in the 92nd minute, sending fans into wild celebrations.

But football’s drama struck again. Deep into stoppage time, Czechia found an equaliser, ending the contest at 2-2 and leaving Maltese hearts broken. Despite the late setback, Malta’s youngsters displayed immense character, tactical discipline, and attacking flair proof that this generation can compete with Europe’s best.

Attention now turns to next Tuesday’s decisive showdown against Azerbaijan, once again at the Centenary Stadium. Kick-off is at 11:00am, and Malta will be eager to turn resilience into victory.
