The National Senior Men’s Water Polo Team have officially departed Malta to begin an intensive preparation programme alongside the Slovenian national team, marking the final phase of their build‑up to the European Aquatics Water Polo Championships 2026. The tournament will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 10 and 25 January, and represents the pinnacle of Malta’s competitive calendar.

This final training camp is designed to sharpen match fitness, strengthen tactical cohesion, and expose the squad to high‑level opposition ahead of their opening fixtures in Serbia. Working closely with Slovenia provides Malta with valuable international sparring, allowing the team to refine defensive structures, improve transition play, and test new tactical variations under competitive pressure.

With the Championships fast approaching, the squad travels with determination and a clear objective: to deliver disciplined performances and continue Malta’s steady rise in European water polo. Their time in Slovenia will be crucial as they aim to arrive in Belgrade fully prepared and mentally focused for the challenges ahead.
