Malta Looking to Bounce Back After Two Competitive Euro Beach Soccer League Defeats

Malta head into their final match of the 2026 Euro Beach Soccer League seeking their first victory after suffering consecutive defeats to Georgia and England in Batumi.
The national team first fell 2-1 to hosts Georgia despite producing an impressive display. Malta matched the hosts for long spells, creating several chances and twice striking the woodwork through captain Venuto and Demanuele. Georgia took control in the second period with goals from Ivaniadze and Chikirov, but Malta refused to give up. Their persistence was rewarded in the closing seconds when Bray produced one of the goals of the tournament, scoring with a spectacular bicycle kick that earned applause from both Maltese and Georgian supporters.
Malta then faced England, where they were beaten 5-2 despite another encouraging performance. Bray opened the scoring with a powerful long-range strike before England responded with two late goals in the opening period. The English side extended their advantage through two Lawson set-pieces and a Robinson penalty, but Malta continued to create opportunities throughout the contest. Bray added his second goal of the match late on with a composed finish, while Agius was denied by an excellent save in the closing moments.
Despite the results, Malta have shown determination and attacking quality ahead of their final fixture against Slovakia.
