Malta Hosts First-Ever Walking Hockey Event

Malta hosted its first-ever Walking Hockey event, an initiative organised as part of the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS) programme.

The activity aimed to promote inclusion in sport and attract people of all ages and abilities, including those who had never tried hockey before, former players, and members of the wider community.

More than 20 participants forming four teams immersed themselves in an environment that placed the emphasis on participation, movement, and enjoyment rather than competition.

Throughout the day, coaches were on hand to explain the rules of the game, which does not allow running or powerful hitting of the ball.

The event created a relaxed and social atmosphere while introducing a new and accessible form of hockey in Malta.
