Malta Football Association Releases Statement Regarding Power Cut At Centenary Stadium
Local

The Malta Football Association (MFA) released a statement regarding yesterday's power cut which took place during Floriana's UEFA Conference League Game against Drita FC at the Centenary Stadium.

According to information acquired by the Malta FA, the power cut was caused by damage in a nearby substation, which affected various zones, including Ta' Qali. Because of this damage, a generator had to be used, yet even this had difficulties working in a stable way because of the high temperatures.

Despite the various challenges and interruptions that happened during more than one occasion near the end of the game, the match could continue and end with the use of the generator.

The Malta Football Association emphasised that none of these interruptions happened due to damages in the Centenary Stadium's floodlights. The cut was caused by external service of electricity provision, and therefore was completely out of the control of the MFA.
