The Malta Football Association welcomed media representatives and sponsors to the National Football Centre (NFC) in Ta’ Qali on Tuesday afternoon, marking both the start of the new year and one of the final events celebrating the association’s 125th anniversary. The gathering offered guests an inside look at the newly inaugurated centre, which officially opened its doors last September.

The NFC stands as a major milestone in the Malta FA’s long‑term strategy to strengthen football development across all levels. The complex includes a 400‑seater, UEFA Category 1 stadium, a medical and sports science hub, player relaxation areas, administrative offices, conference rooms, and an eatery. It has already hosted UEFA Euro WU17 and WU19 qualifiers, along with several international friendlies.

Funded through a collaboration between the Government of Malta, the National Development and Social Fund, Malta Development Bank, Project Green, and UEFA Sustainable Infrastructure, the centre now serves as the operational base for the Malta FA Technical Centre and national teams.

FA President Bjorn Vassallo highlighted the centre’s sporting, educational, and economic value, noting its potential to boost sports tourism as foreign teams begin using the facility for training camps. He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to continued investment, including future plans for National Stadium modernisation and further support for club development.
