Malta FA Marks 125 Years with Gala at National Football Centre

The Malta Football Association capped its 125th anniversary celebrations with a special event at the National Football Centre (NFC) on Saturday evening. Member clubs, associations, and distinguished guests gathered at the Malta FA Training Grounds to honor the milestone and explore the newly inaugurated facility.
The NFC, officially opened in September, represents a major investment in Maltese football. It features a 400-seat UEFA-compliant stadium, medical and sports science areas, player relaxation zones, administrative offices, conference spaces, and dining facilities. Already hosting UEFA youth qualifiers and international friendlies, the centre is set to become the hub for technical operations and national team logistics.
During the event, Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo reflected on the Association’s journey from its humble beginnings to becoming Malta’s largest sporting body, with over 15,000 affiliates. Minister Byron Camilleri reaffirmed government support for grassroots development, while NDSF CEO Raymond Ellul and MDB Chairperson Leo Brincat highlighted the project’s social impact and sustainable funding model.
