Malta earn historic results at World Cup in Xi’an as artistic swimmers break national records

Malta’s National Artistic Swimming Team delivered a landmark series of performances at the World Cup in Xi’an, China, proudly raising the national standard on the global stage. The team’s results marked some of the strongest and most historic ever achieved by Maltese artistic swimmers at this level.

Zea Montfort produced a standout display in the Women’s Solo Technical, finishing 14th with a score of 211.4483, the highest score ever recorded by both Zea and Malta in this category. She followed this with an impressive 11th‑place finish in her next swim, showing confidence, precision and excellent pool coverage.

In the Women’s Duet Technical, Ana Culic and Thea Grima placed 19th, debuting a new routine internationally and earning Malta’s highest artistic impression score to date, a significant milestone for the discipline.

Culic also shone in the Women’s Solo Free, finishing 15th and achieving her personal best artistic impression score of 107.80, reflecting clear progress and growing international competitiveness.

These results highlight the dedication, growth and rising ambition of Malta’s artistic swimming programme. Congratulations to all athletes, coaches and support staff involved.
