Malta Crowned Champions in Historic San Marino Triumph

Malta’s Women’s Rugby National Team wrote a golden chapter in their history after winning the San Marino RSM 7s Tournament for the first time, edging Le Cinghiale 14-12 in a dramatic final.

The Maltese side showed remarkable resilience throughout the round‑robin stage, recovering from an opening 7-17 defeat to Le Cinghiale with dominant wins over Pesaro (28-0), Bustrong (37-0) and Athenas (19-12) to book their place in the final.

In the decider, Malta delivered a composed and courageous performance, overturning early pressure to secure a famous 14-12 victory and lift the trophy. The squad’s discipline, defensive organisation and sharp finishing proved decisive against physically imposing opposition.

Jacqueline Azzopardi Richard capped off the weekend in style, being named Best Player of the Tournament, a testament to her leadership and outstanding all‑round display.
