Malta’s captain and star water polo player, Stevie Camilleri, will be sidelined for the coming weeks due to a serious nasal injury, ruling him out of Malta’s upcoming World Cup Division B matches against Kazakhstan and Romania.

Camilleri, widely regarded as Malta’s most decorated water polo player, has spent the majority of his career playing abroad, featuring in Italy’s top division and enjoying a loan spell in Serbia.

His absence is a significant blow for the national team, particularly following Malta’s recent World Aquatics World Cup Division II match against Australia, where he sustained the injury.

The ASA President, Executive, and National Team Coaching Technical Staff have extended their best wishes to Camilleri, wishing him a full and speedy recovery. Despite being sidelined, his leadership and presence remain a vital part of the team.

Malta’s water polo community stands united in support of their captain, eager to see him return to the pool once fully recovered.
