Luxol St Andrews Futsal made an excellent start to their UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round campaign after securing a convincing 4-2 victory over Danish side Hjørring Futsal Klub in Leinì, Italy, on Wednesday.

The Maltese champions opened the scoring through Jefferson Alves after just four minutes, before Hjørring responded through William Rams to level matters.

Luxol regained control in the second half, with Luiz Murad restoring their advantage in the 22nd minute.

Ellyson Castelo Branco Carvalho De Sa' extended Luxol’s lead in the 27th minute, before Murad completed his brace in the 35th minute to make it 4-1.

Ermin Kasumovic grabbed a late consolation for Hjørring, but Luxol held firm to claim three valuable points.

The victory provides an encouraging opening to Luxol’s Group 7 campaign.

The Maltese representatives will now turn their attention to Thursday’s encounter against Finland’s Futsal Mad Max, before concluding their group commitments against Italian hosts L84 Torino on Saturday.
