Liverpool Players Pay Tribute To Jota In 1st Match Since Death

International
Liverpool players and fans paid tribute to Diogo Jota in the club’s first match since his tragic death earlier this month.
A minute’s silence was held before their pre-season friendly against Preston North End at Deepdale, with Preston captain Ben Whiteman laying a wreath in front of the Liverpool supporters.
Jota, aged 28, died alongside his brother, André Silva, in a car crash in Spain’s Zamora province. Just 11 days earlier, he had married his long-term partner, Rute Cardoso, with whom he shared three children.
Earlier this week, Liverpool announced that Jota’s number 20 shirt would be retired across the club as a mark of respect.
