Lexine Farrugia Suffers Serious Knee Injury

Maltese footballer Lexine Farrugia has revealed she has suffered a devastating triple knee injury tearing her ACL, MCL and meniscus an ordeal that will sideline her for an extended period and marks one of the toughest moments of her young career. In a heartfelt message, Farrugia admitted she is struggling to put her emotions into words, describing the injury as a moment that “broke something inside” her, given how deeply football shapes her identity and purpose.

Farrugia highlighted the overwhelming support she received from her family, teammates and close friends, who stood by her from the moment the injury occurred. Despite the pain and uncertainty, she said they still managed to bring her moments of laughter and comfort, something she remains “endlessly grateful” for.

Although unable to play, Farrugia has pledged to support her teammates from the stands.
