Malta’s tennis scene takes centre stage this week as the M25 Malta and W35 Malta tournaments bring international talent and the country’s leading players to Marsa Sports Club.

One of Wednesday’s highlights will see Leo Borg, son of Swedish tennis legend Björn Borg, known as the “Ice Man”, face Malta’s Liam Delicata. The encounter offers Delicata an opportunity to test himself against international opposition on home soil. Greek player Petros Tsitsipas will also return to Malta, adding further interest to the week-long competitions.

Several other Maltese players will be looking to make their mark. Evan Galea will gain valuable experience against international opponents, while established local champion Matthew Asciak will compete in the men’s event. In the women’s competition, Elaine Genovese brings her experience to the court, while Julia Perera Vega has reached the qualifying final and is battling for a place in the main draw.

Rising talent Marija Magro is also scheduled to compete in doubles on Tuesday before taking to the court for her singles match on Wednesday.

Organised by the Malta Tennis and Padel Federation, the M25 Malta and W35 Malta tournaments provide local players with a valuable opportunity to compete against international opposition in front of a home crowd.

The Federation has wished all Maltese participants the best of luck and encouraged the public to attend and show their support.

The tournaments run from 25 October to 1 November, with the singles finals scheduled for Sunday, 1 November.
