Lazio Coach Maurizio Sarri Undergoes Successful Heart Procedure

Lazio head coach Maurizio Sarri has undergone minor heart surgery, with the club confirming on Monday that the procedure “was successful.” The 66-year-old, who has been suffering from an irregular heartbeat, is expected to resume his duties with the team in the coming days.
Sarri returned to Lazio this summer following the resignation of Marco Baroni. He previously managed the Rome-based club between 2021 and March 2024, leading them to a second-place finish in Serie A in 2023.
The Italian coach, a former banker and known heavy smoker, has a long and successful managerial career. He achieved promotion to Serie A with Empoli in 2014, guided Napoli to two second-place finishes, won the Europa League with Chelsea in 2019, and led Juventus to the Serie A title in 2020.
Currently, Lazio sit eighth in Serie A with 24 points from 17 games as they prepare to continue their campaign under Sarri’s guidance.
