Local

Laura Frendo is set to represent Malta in the upcoming 2026 European Women’s Championship organised by the European Trotting Amateur-Drivers Federation.

This will mark Malta’s third participation in the championship following the positive performances achieved by Cherise Farrugia in the 2023 and 2024 editions.

This year’s championship will take place at Kincsem Park on Friday 8 and Saturday 9 May. The event will bring together amateur female drivers from across Europe for a two-day competition featuring six races. Each of the 13 participating drivers will compete in four of the six races, with points awarded according to their finishing positions.

Frendo obtained her driving licence with the Malta Racing Club in 2023 and, in just four years of official competitive racing, has already participated in 110 races. She has established herself as one of Malta’s leading female drivers, recording seven career victories and securing top-four finishes in 30 other races.

Drivers from 13 countries will take part, these being Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

The Malta Racing Club wished Frendo success and thanked EquestriMalta for its continued financial support.
