Kercem FC President Releases Statement Regarding Foreign Players In Gozo Leagues

Kercem Ajax FC president, Dr Elvin Grech, released a statement in which he explained why the club is against an increase in the number of foreign players that can play in Gozitan leagues.

Grech remarked that Kercem's opposition is not due to the club's financial position. He stated that the club is financially stable and could afford to engage six, eight, even ten foreign players.

Kercem strongly believes in opportunities for youth, with the increase in foreign players putting young players at risk of giving up due to the limited chances they will have at senior level.

While Grech said that this message should not be interpreted as a complaint against foreign players, he believes that this could hinder young players' chances of playing senior team football, emphasising that football should not consist of short-term gain, but also safeguarding the long-term future of Gozitan football and creating opportunities for foreign players.
