Katrina Micallef And Jeremy Zammit To Carry Malta's Flag At Mediterranean Games Closing Ceremony

Sailor Katrina Micallef and athlete Jeremy Zammit have been named as Malta's flag bearers for the Closing Ceremony of the XX Mediterranean Games, taking place at the Erasmo Iacovone Stadium in Taranto this evening, 3rd September.

Sailor Katrina Micallef finished 12th in a highly competitive sailing fleet that underlined the standard of these Games. The fleet, across both the men's and women's events, was largely composed of athletes holding World or European titles, with several senior sailors carrying Olympic experience.

In the Long Jump, Zammit produced one of the performances of his Games, posting a seasonal best of 7.61m, just short of the top-eight qualification mark . The result signals a confident return to form after several years marked by setbacks, and brings him closer to his personal best and Maltese National Record of 7.84m.

The pair will carry the Maltese flag as Team Malta concludes its participation in the Games, which opened on 21st August.
