Royal Malta Yacht Club’s Thomas Smith Triple Handed Night Race delivered a punishing but memorable offshore challenge, with strong north-easterly winds and building seas testing crews around the Malta-Gozo course.

Emerging victorious was Jubatus, skippered by Sean Borg alongside Andrea Azzopardi and Nicky Fenech. Their win was particularly impressive given the yacht had only been relaunched two hours before the start after suffering a mishap the previous weekend. Jubatus established an early advantage and successfully defended its lead during the challenging return leg.

“We only launched Jubatus two hours before the start, but the crew pulled it together,” Borg said, describing the race as “one to remember” after finishing with “sore muscles, rope burns, and bruises to show for it.”

Vivace, helmed by Andrew Agius Delicata with Matthew Gabriele and Kevin Anastasi, secured second place despite recovering from a heavy broach near Gozo. Calypso, skippered by Sebastian Ripard alongside Jake Satariano and Harry Parnis England, completed the podium in third.

A Prize Giving evening will take place on Friday 15th May at 19:00hrs at the Royal Malta Yacht Club.
