Team Malta’s cross‑country skier Jenny Axisa Eriksen is ready to compete today in the Women’s 10km Cross‑Country Skiing interval‑start race in Tesero, Italy, with the event scheduled to begin at 1:00pm. The Maltese athlete will face a powerful international field of more than 150 competitors, including several world‑class skiers and medallists from the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

Since arriving in Italy last week, Axisa Eriksen has been training daily on the Tesero course, working closely with her coach Henrik Skjørvold Pedersen to fine‑tune her rhythm, technique and confidence. Her preparation has focused on adapting to the snow conditions, terrain and pacing required for the demanding 10km free event.

Today’s race is the only interval‑start competition in the Milano Cortina programme, meaning athletes begin at staggered times and the winner is determined solely by the fastest overall time.

Speaking ahead of the race, Axisa Eriksen expressed pride in representing Malta on the Olympic stage, emphasising her determination to give her all. Team Malta Chef de Mission Maria Vella‑Galea highlighted the supportive environment surrounding the athlete, especially important as she makes her Olympic debut.
