Jean Claude Micallef to contest for MOC Secretary General

Jean Claude Micallef has officially entered the race for Secretary General of the Malta Olympic Committee after being nominated by ten national sports associations. The nominating bodies include Regatta Malta, the Malta Cricket Association, Malta Taekwondo Association, the Malta Rugby Football Union, the Malta Amateur Wrestling Federation, the Malta Gymnastics Federation, Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi, the Malta Baseball & Softball Association, the Malta Tennis & Padel Federation, and the Malta Triathlon Federation.

Micallef accepted the nomination with a strong sense of responsibility, thanking outgoing Secretary General Kevin Azzopardi for his work in strengthening the Committee’s structures. In recent weeks, he has met with several federations to present his vision, “Maltin Rebbieħa”, which focuses on transparency, collaboration, and stronger support for athletes and associations.

He stated that he is ready to place his experience at the service of Maltese sport. The election will take place on 25 March.
