James Mackay confirms continuation as Valletta FC Team Manager

James Mackay has confirmed he will continue in his role as Valletta FC Team Manager for the upcoming season, following what he described as long, honest and constructive discussions with the club. Mackay had initially intended to resign from all positions after feeling physically and mentally drained from a demanding campaign, but after careful reflection and dialogue, he chose to remain and focus solely on first‑team duties.

He expressed gratitude to President Claudio Grech, Nicky Saliba, Coach Thane Micallef, and the players for their understanding and appreciation of his work throughout last season. Their confidence, he said, played a crucial role in his decision to stay on.

Mackay also thanked his family for their unwavering support during what he called “difficult days”, acknowledging the importance of their encouragement.

With the decision now settled, Mackay emphasised that it is time to return fully focused and committed, determined to help Valletta FC achieve the ambitions set for the season ahead.
