JAKE JORDAN MICALLEF GETS DEBUT PODIUM FINISH IN MALTA’S MINI GR3

Against all odds, Jake Jordan Micallef delivered an outstanding performance in his first-ever Mini GR3 race in Malta, securing a well-deserved podium finish. The weekend began with a series of setbacks that would have tested any driver’s resolve. On Saturday, practice sessions turned into a nightmare as mechanical issues plagued the team. The chain came off repeatedly, and a bent chassis was discovered just 14 hours before race day a challenge that seemed insurmountable.
Sunday brought more drama when the air filter broke during practice, leaving Micallef without a proper session to fine-tune his setup. Despite these hurdles, the young talent kept his composure and focused on the task ahead.
Qualifying saw Micallef start from P5, but his determination shone through in the prefinal. In treacherous wet conditions on slick tires, he climbed to P2 and was poised to challenge for the lead when a red flag ended the race prematurely. In the final, Micallef once again showcased his skill, finishing P2 and securing a podium spot an incredible achievement given the circumstances.
“I’m proud of this result,” said Micallef. “Considering how little I’ve trained in Malta because my main racing program is in Italy, this podium means a lot.”
Micallef expressed gratitude to his sponsors Veggiesandfruit and Fort Fitness, his personal coach Maximus, mechanic Norbert Valletta, and supporters Luke Muscat, Eman Muscat, and Aldo Vella for their unwavering belief and encouragement.
