Jake Jordan Micallef produced one of the standout performances of the opening round of the 2026 WSK EuroSeries in Viterbo, storming from 21st on the grid to finish seventh in a rain‑soaked final. The young Maltese driver showcased exceptional racecraft and composure in treacherous conditions, turning a weekend of setbacks into a remarkable comeback.

Micallef’s pace was evident from the start, qualifying 10th out of 30 before a bumper penalty dropped him to 22nd. The early heats brought further challenges, including a DNF in Heat 1 and another penalty in Heat 3, leaving him 24th in the merged manches. Yet the worsening weather seemed to bring out the best in him.

In the prefinal, Micallef surged from P24 to P12, earning the “Top Mover” distinction as heavy rain lashed the circuit. He repeated the feat in the final, carving through the field with confidence and precision to secure seventh place again the biggest climber in the race.

Despite the penalties and misfortune, Micallef’s determination never wavered. His ability to control the kart in extreme conditions underlined his growing maturity and talent, marking the weekend as a significant step forward in his development on the international stage.
