Ian Grech Retires from Competitive Athletics After Years on the Track

Ian Grech has announced his retirement from competitive athletics, bringing an end to a sporting journey filled with memorable experiences, achievements and lasting friendships.
Reflecting on his career, Grech explained that athletics had given him far more than medals and results, taking him around the world and teaching him valuable lessons through both victories and setbacks.
He expressed his gratitude to everyone who had supported him throughout the years, describing his time as an athlete as an unforgettable chapter of his life.
However, Grech’s involvement in athletics is far from over. As Head Coach of the Athletics Academy, he will now focus on passing on his experience and knowledge to younger athletes, helping them develop both on and off the track.
His coaching philosophy centres on instilling values such as dedication, discipline, resilience and self-belief, while encouraging young athletes to pursue their ambitions.
Although he is hanging up his competition spikes, Grech made it clear that his passion for the sport remains unchanged.
His journey now enters a new chapter, moving from chasing personal goals to helping the next generation achieve theirs.
