Hibernians Girls U16 and Jenna Awad Attia Named Atlas Youth Athletes of the Month for December

The Hibernians Girls Under 16 Basketball team has been named the Local winners of the Atlas Youth Athletes of the Month Award for December, following an outstanding performance in the Memorial Cup. On 8th December, the team secured a resounding 94–47 victory over Luxol in the final, showcasing their dominance and continued progress within Maltese youth basketball. The win reflects the team’s dedication, skill, and growing reputation in the national youth sports scene.
In the International category, karate athlete Jenna Awad Attia received the December award after an exceptional showing at the WKF K1 Youth League in Jesolo, Italy, over the weekend. The 14-year-old clinched the bronze medal in the kata category, becoming the first Maltese athlete ever to podium at a Youth League event. Competing against 96 athletes from 33 countries, including Spain, Germany, the United States, and India, Awad Attia’s achievement marked a historic milestone for Maltese karate on the international stage.
The awards were presented by Robert Micallef, Chief Commercial Officer of Atlas Insurance, with the Malta Sports Journalists Association represented by General Secretary Joanna Camilleri. Both winners exemplify the talent, dedication, and potential of Malta’s next generation of athletes.
