Hibernians FC Defeat Sliema Wanderers FC With Important 2-0 Win At Hibernians Stadium

One of the most highly anticipated matches from matchday 1 of the Malta Premier League between Hibernians and Sliema Wanderers went the Paolites' way after a goal in each half gave the whites an important 2-0 victory at the Tony Bezzina Stadium.

The match had a dramatic start after Teddy Teuma missed a penalty in the opening 5 minutes of the match, sending his effort over the crossbar. Hibernians capitalized off the missed chance and opened the score in the 27th minute after Boris Druga beat Henry Bonello from close range.

Hibernians doubled their lead in the 72th minute when Fabian Jankovic received a cross from the right and fired home first time to give the Paolites a two goal advantage.

Both teams will be back in action next Friday at the Centenary Stadium, with Hibernians set to face league runners up Marsaxlokk at 20:30, and Sliema set to encounter champions Floriana at 18:00.
