Women’s football will take centre stage on Tuesday evening as Hibernians FC Women host Inter Women in an eagerly anticipated friendly at the Tony Bezzina Stadium, with kick‑off scheduled for 7pm and free entrance for all supporters.

Inter Women, currently competing in Italy’s Serie A Femminile, are in Malta for a training camp organised by Qmedia Limited. Led by coach Gianpiero Piovani, the Nerazzurre arrived on Saturday and immediately began preparations ahead of their first match on Maltese soil.

The visit has generated considerable excitement, particularly due to the presence of Haley Bugeja, Malta’s star forward and one of Europe’s most promising young talents. Bugeja enters the new year in exceptional form, having scored a hat‑trick in Inter’s 5‑1 derby win over Milan and adding another goal in the Coppa Italia victory against Como 1907. This friendly marks her first appearance in Malta with Inter since joining the club in 2023.

Hibernians, coached by former Malta international Martina Borg, see the match as a valuable opportunity for their squad to test themselves against elite opposition. Currently second in the Assikura Women’s League, the Paolites are eager to use the experience to raise their competitive level.

Supported by VisitMalta, Tuesday’s match promises an exciting showcase of women’s football and a special homecoming moment for Bugeja.
