Gżira United Secure Signing of U-19 International Dejan Farrugia

Gżira United have strengthened their midfield with the signing of Under-19 Malta international Dejan Farrugia from Floriana FC, marking another significant investment in young local talent. The 19‑year‑old joins the Maroons on a four‑and‑a‑half‑year contract, signalling the club’s long‑term commitment to his development. Farrugia spent the last five years with Floriana, progressing through their ranks and establishing himself as one of the most promising midfielders of his age group.

Club President Sharlon Pace expressed his delight at the acquisition, describing Farrugia as a gifted Maltese player with strong potential. He emphasised that the club’s vision is centred on building a sustainable future by nurturing young talent and providing the right environment for growth.

Technical Director Marlon Galea echoed this sentiment, highlighting Farrugia’s standout performances during the UEFA Under‑19 Championships, where he scored twice and emerged as one of the tournament’s top performers. Galea praised his technical ability, vision, maturity on the ball and strong work ethic, noting that patience will be key as the youngster continues to develop.
