Graham Borg opens 2026 with superb Silver at Open Masters Games

Maltese triathlete Graham Borg kicked off his 2026 season with an outstanding performance, securing a silver medal at the World Open Masters Games in Abu Dhabi. Competing against more than 200 athletes aged 30 and over, Borg impressed by finishing second overall and second in the M45 category, with the overall winner also coming from his age group.

Borg delivered consistency across all three disciplines. He dominated the swim, recording the fastest time among all categories and positioning himself strongly from the start. In the 42.8 km cycling segment, slightly longer than the Olympic standard, he maintained an exceptional average speed of 41 km/h, achieving the second-fastest bike split of the entire field.

Although he began the run in first place, a late surge from another competitor pushed him into second, finishing in a remarkable time of 2 hours and 8 minutes. The result marks a highly encouraging start to Borg’s 2026 campaign.
