Graham Borg Crowned Southern Italy Masters 2 Champion

Maltese triathlete Graham Borg continued his outstanding season with victory at the final duathlon in Matera, Italy, on 11 October, securing the Masters 2 (M2) title in the Magna Grecia Trofeo Triathlon regional league.

Borg’s success marked his seventh age-category victory of the season. Competing in four of the five races, he finished first in his category in every event, accumulating 550 points — the highest total across all age categories.

The Matera race also proved decisive for his team, ASD Mothycense. Entering the final event in second place overall, the team delivered a series of strong performances, including several podium finishes, to secure the overall league title.

Borg expressed his gratitude to the team for welcoming him when he returned to competitive triathlon in September 2025, describing the experience of sharing the podium with his teammates as particularly rewarding.

Although representing Malta, Borg said he had been welcomed like family and credited the team’s support with helping him rediscover his enjoyment of the sport.

With the Southern Italy title secured, Borg now turns his attention to Sicily, where he is scheduled to compete in the San Vito Lo Capo Sprint Triathlon and the final Olympic-distance race in Mondello.

He will be aiming to conclude his comeback season on another high note as he pursues further success in the Sicilian regional standings.
