The Malta Premier League has officially launched its first communication for the Gozo Weekender 2026, a key highlight of the Opening Season for the MPL/KML. Building on last year’s success, the event will now span two weekends, offering an expanded programme of top‑flight football and community engagement.

The first weekend, held on 11–12 April, will see the three Top Six fixtures from Match Week 28 played at the Gozo Stadium, while the Bottom Six matches take place in Malta. Match Week 29 will follow midweek on the mainland. The second weekend, 18–19 April, shifts the focus as the Bottom Six fixtures from Match Week 30 move to Gozo, with the Top Six returning to Malta.

A new addition this year is a youth football festival, inviting MPL clubs to field U10–U12 teams alongside Gozitan sides, strengthening ties through sport and community spirit.

MPL CEO Alan Abela expressed gratitude to the Ministry for Gozo and Visit Gozo for their continued support, noting that last year’s edition generated over 2,300 bed nights. This year’s event is projected to inject around €600,000 into the Gozitan economy.

For the first time, Football Video Support (FVS) will also be used in Gozo, further elevating the matchday experience.
