Għaxaq Consolidate Top Spot as First Division Championship Enters Decisive Stage

The First Division Bocci Championship continued with its 18th round of fixtures, producing several important results that increased the tension at both ends of the table heading the championship's most decisive stage.
Għaxaq consolidated their position at the top with a convincing 21-6 victory over St. Peter's Żabbar, while Qormi San Bastjan registered an impressive 21-4 win against second-placed Msida.
Żurrieq recorded the biggest win of the round, defeating Buġibba 21-0, while Santa Venera overcame Żejtun 21-11. San Ġwann claimed an important away victory, beating Lija 21-13, as Żebbuġ earned a valuable 21-7 success over Birkirkara.
With only five matches remaining before the end of the regular season, the battle for places in the Championship Pool and the fight to avoid relegation are becoming increasingly intense. Għaxaq lead the standings with 16 points, followed by Msida on 13 and St. Peter's Żabbar on 12.
Once the regular season concludes, the play-offs will determine the league champions. The team finishing first will qualify directly for the championship final, while the clubs finishing between second and fifth place will contest the play-offs for the remaining spot in the final.
As things stand Għaxaq remain top with 16 points, with Msida in second place with 13 points. St. Peter's Żabbar sit third with 12, Żurrieq fourth with 11, Żejtun fifth with 10, and San Ġwann sixth with 7. At the bottom half of the table, Lija hold the same points as San Ġwann (7), with Birkirkara and Santa Venera both holding 6 points. Buġibba and Qormi San Bastjan hold 5, with Żebbuġ at the very bottom with 4 points.
