Għaxaq Boċċi Club Secure Place in First Division Final

Għaxaq continued to confirm their dominance in the National First Division Bocci Championship as, with three matches remaining until the end of the league, they have mathematically secured their place in the final.

Għaxaq sit at the top of the standings with 18 points after defeating Santa Venera 21-7 yesterday. It was a match which the Għaxaq team controlled well and deservedly came away victorious.

The battle for the play-off places is almost decided. Msida, who sit second with 14 points, followed by St Peter’s Żabbar on 13 and Żurrieq on 12, are among the teams that have secured qualification, while Żejtun, on 11 points, still need mathematical confirmation.

At the bottom of the standings, the battle against relegation continues, with several teams separated by only a few points. Żebbuġ currently occupy last place with four points. In other results from yesterday, Msida defeated Żurrieq 21-11, St Peter’s Żabbar were better than Żebbuġ, winning 21-6, while Żejtun dominated their clash against San Ġwann to win 21-5. Birkirkara had to work hard to defeat Buġibba 21-18, while Qormi San Bastjan defeated Lija 21-10.

The final three matches are expected to be crucial in determining the play-off and relegation pool positions.
