Fuliggine Pal, representing Moving On Stables and driven by Noel Baldacchino, claimed an impressive victory in the Krafft Championship Final for Gold category trotters at the Marsa Racetrack on Sunday.

The prestigious final, contested over 2,140 metres, was the highlight of the 49th racing meeting of the season, featuring twelve horses competing for championship honours.

Starting from number eight behind the autostart, Baldacchino adopted a patient approach, keeping Fuliggine Pal well positioned behind the leading contenders.

Eland, driven by Jesmar Gafa, dictated the early pace before Pure Joy, under Cherise Farrugia, launched a strong challenge and moved ahead with 200 metres remaining.

However, Baldacchino timed his move perfectly, finding an opening along the inside rails and urging Fuliggine Pal forward with a powerful finishing sprint.

The Italian mare responded brilliantly, catching Pure Joy in the final 100 metres before securing victory by just under half a length.

Pure Joy finished second, followed by Eland and Gold From Heaven.

Fuliggine Pal registered an average kilometre time of 1 minute 13.2 seconds.

The victory represented another prestigious achievement for Baldacchino and Moving On Stables, with the driver completing a memorable afternoon by also winning aboard Grandcamp.
